My inner handle wont open the door.

Remove the inner door handle. Damaged handle cable or rod. Look for a screw in the bezel under the handle lever. When the lock is at rest the spring is fully extended.

Begin by checking the keyway for blockage. Lubricate the assembly and move again. Remove inside handle bezel. Here is the wayt to check if you need anything just let me know.

Remove the handles including the thru spindle. Paint on the edge of the door sometimes prevents the barrel from retracting. When you turn the knob or handle the spring should compress and open the lock allowing you to open your door. If you have the tools and skills you need to take the panel out from the doors inside so you can get access to the mechanical elements of the car door.

If the set screw on the handle is stripped and difficult to tighten replace it with a new one. Next open the door and try to adjust the lock assembly to see what is stuck. A knob or a handle typically uses a spring loaded latch to function. Check to make sure the handle is not broken.

Take the handles knobs off of the door. Issues with the rods or door handle cables can also trigger your car door from not opening. Some models have handles that have no screw but are held on by locks which are disengaged by sliding the bezel either forward or back. Door knob turns but won t open. There should be a cable or rod attached to the handle. This is usually only on one side either the inside handle won t open the door or the outside handle won t open the door but the other one will work fine. See if this retracts the handle.

In many cases the door handle feels loose and seems like nothing in the door moves. If this is the problem clean the paint off.
