Also works with all types of siding vinyl fiber cement cedar etc. It can be a pain to side around it but you will fail your inspection if the inspector doesn t see it on your job. Heavy duty aluminum 3003 alloy 0 040 thick welded to create a strong permanent and watertight joint which is far superior to a field formed kickout that is sealed with caulking. It comes with built in j channel and easily integrates and installs with siding and roofing.

Leave the kick out flashing loose and slide the first panel behind the flashing. Eliminate inconsistent homemade kickouts that do not perform. Vinyl siding is a good choice because it breathes and when water does enter into the system it can dry out again in our low humidity air. Works on any roof pitch.

Kick out flashing prevents water from running down a roof and ending up behind the siding on an adjacent wall. The vinyl siding closest to the roof was pulled loose and slit to allow the instillation of the kick out flashing which was worked up back under the exiting step flashing and the siding then replaced. Kickout flashing replaces the first piece on step flashing and redirects water away from the siding ideally into a gutter. In the picture at left a roofer has added a kick out flashing at the junction of a roof and dormer.

Unfortunately there is still lots of water damage occurring because of poorly installed flashing in behind the wall cladding systems. If the kick out and step flashing can t tuck behind the siding screw on cap flashing to cover it then caulk along the top. Inspect the sidewall around and underneath the fascia and inside the house for signs of moisture damage and repair any rotted areas.
